Musician and avid watch collector John Mayer collaborates with Audemars Piguet to unveil the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar “John Mayer” Limited Edition, coinciding with leap year. This exclusive timepiece marks the end of an era for AP’s caliber 5134 movement, featuring a newly reimagined design inspired by the celestial aesthetic of the night sky. Mayer’s creative input enhances the iconic model, particularly focusing on the intricate “Crystal Sky” dial concept, created with Physical Vapour Deposition. The deep-blue dial, resembling a moonless sky, showcases irregular crystal-like shapes, adding texture and depth.
Beyond aesthetics, Mayer introduces subtle modifications for enhanced legibility, such as changing the color of the date subdial’s “31” to white and adjusting the size and placement of the numerals. The week indicator adopts a light-blue color for easy visibility. Inside, the watch houses the historic caliber 5134 movement, concluding an era in AP’s perpetual calendar history that began in 1967. Limited to 200 pieces, the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar “John Mayer” Limited Edition is priced at $180,700.
