Italian design powerhouse Draga & Aurel unveils its latest marvel: “Flare,” a captivating collection of furniture and sculptures crafted from layers of vibrant lucite. Led by the creative duo Draga Obradovic and Aurel K Basedo, renowned for their mastery of color and light, this Lake Como-based studio pushes the boundaries of design with their innovative use of materials.
In “Flare,” the duo explores the mesmerizing interplay of light refraction, employing multi-hued layers of solid lucite to create a series of coffee tables and sculptures. Each piece is a testament to the studio’s meticulous craftsmanship, as lucite sheets of varying shapes and sizes are skillfully layered and cut to produce a dazzling array of hues. The result? A stunning visual spectacle that exudes retrofuturistic allure, with “beams of light” seemingly traversing through each object.
Reflecting on the collection, Draga & Aurel articulate their vision: “The result is multifaceted objects that change from every angle and thoroughly express the concept of a flare, representing intuition, revelation, and discovery.”
The “Flare” collection comprises coffee tables of varying sizes and heights, alongside totem sculptures that seamlessly blend furniture and art. Each piece boasts a translucent appearance, radiating with a spectrum of tantalizing hues – from deep greens and golden yellows to vibrant pops of red, pink, and blue.
Exclusively showcased at Todd Merill Studio in New York, the “Flare” collection invites viewers to immerse themselves in the captivating world of Draga & Aurel’s luminous creations.
