Ann Demeulemeester, renowned for her poetic designs in black and white, steps into the world of fragrance with ‘A,’ her debut scent. Released after ventures into furniture and homeware and the label’s acquisition in 2020, ‘A’ encapsulates the darkly romantic spirit synonymous with Demeulemeester’s collections. Genderless and crafted from a lifelong fascination with scent, it features top notes of clove, cumin, cinnamon, lemon, and bergamot, leading to a heart of jasmine, May rose, and birch-oiled leather. Earthy base notes of patchouli, vetiver, rose, and sandalwood complete the composition. The modernist glass flacon, adorned with the letter ‘A,’ reflects the fragrance’s essence, complemented by a box reminiscent of Demeulemeester’s Antwerp boutique and a portrait of the designer by her husband, Patrick Robyn. Victor Robyn, their son, created the perfume’s visuals, resulting in an instinctive fragrance that mirrors the emotional language of Demeulemeester’s work.
The A’ Parfum is priced at 380 euros.
