In a momentous shift for Alexander McQueen, Seán McGirr assumes the role of creative director for the Fall/Winter 2024 season. Having taken the helm last October, McGirr, hailing from esteemed fashion houses like Burberry, Dries van Noten, and JW Anderson, brings a contemporary twist to the iconic brand.
The collection unfurls a gothic-inspired narrative, featuring glossy black ensembles, sharp silhouettes, and a subtle yet brooding tone—a nod to McQueen’s penchant for drama. McGirr introduces a playful element with animal-esque footwear and avant-garde boxy sweaters, signaling a departure from the traditional McQueen aesthetic.
Notable in the collection is McGirr’s take on animal print, evident in shredded sleeveless hoodies and knee-length fluffy trousers—a whimsical touch reminiscent of his time at JW Anderson. Departing from the design duo of Burton and McQueen, McGirr injects a refreshing energy into the brand, promising an exciting new era for Alexander McQueen.
