Nice Rice, the Shanghai-based premium menswear brand, sets sail to Shenzhen, marking its southernmost outpost. The brand, flourishing since its 2018 inception, has strategically expanded its footprint beyond online sales, establishing brick-and-mortar stores in key cities like Chengdu, Beijing, Nanjing, Chongqing, and Hangzhou. Now, the maritime-themed Shenzhen store, located at Shenzhen Wanxiang Tiandi, is an architectural homage to the city’s impressive evolution from a fishing village to a modern metropolis.
Crafted by Hangzhou-based architecture practice say architects, the store’s design draws inspiration from Shenzhen’s sleek sailboats. The front section boasts staggered masts and crossbars, with a central staypole supporting a sail, doubling as a functional display structure. The white ambiance of this area contrasts with the timber-clad back section, reminiscent of a boat’s cabin. The immersive design features low seating, a sales counter along the back wall, and embedded fitting rooms and storage space.
